Did you know it is required to store health records for all employees under health surveillance for 40 years?
Records are important because they allow links to be made between exposure and any health effects. Health records, or a copy, should be kept in a suitable form for at least 40 years from the date of last entry because often there is a long period between exposure and onset of ill health.
Individual, up-to-date health records must be kept for each employee placed under health surveillance. These should include details about the employee and the health surveillance procedures relating to them. The record should be kept in a format that it can be linked with other information (eg, with any workplace exposure measurements).
Imagine if you were to store all your hand arm vibration paper records? It would take up a whole office to do so or if in digital format just on one memory stick?
Reactec Analytics Platform is perfect for storing data as all the information generated from monitoring exposure and tool use is already in a digital format. This format allows companies to easily interrogate the data to provide useful information at the touch of a button. To understand a company’s overall risk, exposure trend over time and to download an accurate employee’s exposure and tool usage records, unlike paper based “guestimated” records.
Are you storing your records and if so how useful are they to review your company’s performance in reducing risk and protecting the careers of your employees?
