A Forward-Thinking Approach to Innovation: Infusing Sustainability Throughout Your Organisation
Our team has written before about our commitment to sustainability, and what that means for our business, our customers, and our approach to innovation. Ultimately, our philosophy boils down to the belief that sustainability must live at the forefront of innovation, and this guiding principle underpins how we treat our people, how we care for our planet, and how we develop our product.
In this article, we share our ‘Three P’s of Sustainability,’ and review how teams can infuse sustainability throughout their business to enhance efficiency and improve health and safety outcomes for workers.
Sustainability and our People
People are our most precious resource. They’re also our most vulnerable. That’s why it’s so critical for organisations to proactively approach the health and safety of their workers. By taking affirmative steps to preserve the health and safety of their teams, businesses can develop a more sustainable workforce: one that’s more informed, more in control, and better protected from injuries and ill health.
Specifically, when businesses adopt a clearer, more data-driven approach to workplace risk management, they can introduce more stability and predictability into their approach to people management which, in turn, increases job satisfaction and staff retention. This is partly because a modern approach to occupational health and safety eliminates guesswork from the workplace risk environment, and makes it easier for employers to set clear expectations for workers, which promotes better job performance.
Plus, when workers know exactly where they stand with regards to their personal risk from exposure to vibration, noise, dust, or dangerous hazards - they can work with more confidence, which enhances efficiency and productivity. And by rewarding and recognising workers for this good behaviour, employers can increase rates of job satisfaction and staff retention, ultimately contributing to a more supported and sustainable workforce.
Sustainability and our Product
When it comes to monitoring and managing workplace risk, not only are traditional paper-based methods far less accurate and reliable than a modern software-based solution, they are also far less sustainable.
Where paper-based methods are decidedly unfriendly to the environment, difficult to manage, and not conducive to the access and sharing of information and insights, a Cloud-powered solution is eco-friendly and purpose-built to ensure that data moves freely to and from the people who need it.
Even when compared to alternative software-based approaches to workplace risk management, Reactec embraces a truly sustainable approach. Our Safety-as-a-Service plans ensure the collection and environmentally appropriate disposal of all electronics, including recycling and upcycling where possible. We also use recyclable packaging for all of our products, and our tech is wrapped and delivered in recyclable cardboard and sealed with recyclable tape.
Sustainability and the Planet
For our own day-to-day operations, our teams have taken meaningful steps to reduce our environmental impact and create more eco-friendly working environments. Our belief is that a series of small but important changes ultimately stack up to a transformation that makes a meaningful impact. From robust office waste management and recycling initiatives, to reduced electricity use, virtual and hybrid working models to reduce travel, and reduced dependence on paper products, our team shares an ongoing commitment to finding more sustainable, more future-proof ways of working.
Sustainability Starts With Us
Our mission is to support organisations on their journey towards a more modern approach to workplace risk management. Part and parcel to our vision for the future is a focus on helping businesses adopt more sustainable ways of working. To do this, we start with our own teams and working environments. From eco-friendly practices to our Supplier Charter, which requires our partners to work ethically and to comply with relevant labour standards, we are committed to infusing sustainability throughout our entire ecosystem of business and operations.
