Understanding the Reactec Ecosystem

A Guide to Our Technologies, Partners, and Platforms

Over decades, Reactec has brought together experts from across the fields of data analytics, engineering, and workplace risk management to create a comprehensive ecosystem of revolutionary cloud-powered workplace wearable technology.

Beyond R-Link, Reactec’s core technology, this ecosystem includes a powerful, industry-defining Analytics platform, a game-changing API, and integrated technologies for both occupational noise and dust monitoring. The first of its kind, the Reactec ecosystem makes it possible for employers to overlay real-time data from multiple sources of workplace risk. This 360 degree view provides teams with access to more reliable insights, and enables more confident decision-making.

In this article, we’ll review the technologies, partners, and platforms that make up the Reactec ecosystem, and explain how they work together to give organisations unprecedented control over their workplace risk environment.

Reactec Analytics

The heart of the Reactec ecosystem is Reactec’s powerful analytics platform. As workers go about their daily tasks, data about their individual exposure to risk is transmitted in real-time to a cloud-powered database. In this ultra-secure environment, the data is transformed into digestible insights that duty holders can use to identify areas of concern and improve controls.

And unlike data which is processed and stored manually, the reports generated by Reactec Analytics are available and up-to-date 24/7 from anywhere in the world, with just an internet connection and a computer. Plus, teams are able to fully control which employees have access to the reports, when reports are distributed, and what data is displayed.

With the flexibility, security, and reliability of Reactec Analytics, teams have fast and easy access to a single source of risk management truth for their workforce.

R-Link

The R-Link smartwatch is Reactec’s third-generation workplace wearable technology. With real-time monitoring that detects exposure to unsafe levels of vibration and proximity to moving vehicles, active machinery, or a restricted area, R-Link is groundbreaking technology that instantly improves your approach to health and safety at work.

R-Link for Vibration Related Musculoskeletal Disorders

R-Link captures personalised, real-time data from workers as they carry out their tasks. While worn, R-Link alerts workers when they approach or exceed predetermined vibration exposure thresholds. This data - which is stored, processed, and analysed in the Reactec Analytics platform - is critical in the fight against work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs), including Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS), which - like so many WMSDs - is a chronic and irreversible condition.

With access to personalised, real-time data about workers’ exposure to risk from vibrating tools and equipment, employers can understand whether and to what extent their administrative and engineering control measures are actually working. This avoids dangerous guesswork and results in more meaningful improvements.

For example: an analytics report may reveal that certain team members are being exposed to more risk from exposure to vibration than others, or it might show that workers experience higher exposure levels when using certain tools or equipment (which are identified by RFID tool tags). With this information, it’s possible to ensure that worker behaviours are adjusted, and issues of tool condition are addressed. And once any administrative or engineering controls are implemented, the data quickly reveals whether they’ve been effective, and how they could be improved.

R-Link for Proximity Detection

R-Link uses the most advanced ultra-wideband proximity detection technology to alert workers about unsafe proximity to dangerous vehicles, equipment, and areas.R-Link’s proximity detection technology offers unprecedented flexibility, with unique capabilities for both Drivers/Machine Controllers and Pedestrians. With R-Link, individual workers are given different credentials, which allows them to get closer to specific areas and/or hazards. The Machine Controller’s Watch is set up so that no alerts are triggered when they’re operating their vehicle or equipment. Importantly, the system also enables the driver to allow pedestrians to get close to such hazards once made safe, by giving them a ‘digital thumbs-up.’ Crucially, these permissions can be updated at any time: It’s easy to control or update who has access to which areas or equipment on a day-to-day basis. This level of customisation and flexibility makes it easy for teams to create much safer workplaces: environments where safety technology streamlines tasks and operations, instead of distracting workers or slowing things down.

Worker messaging with R-Link

Worker messaging functionality enables Supervisors to schedule or send live health and safety messages to individuals or teams dispersed across job sites. Messages can be quickly created and scheduled in Reactec Analytics for delivery to certain workers, at certain times, on certain worksites, depending on what information needs to be conveyed. Importantly, messages and alerts can also be saved for future use. This highly customisable functionality enables managers and others to confirm when workers have received a message. Data about scheduled and sent messages, including acknowledgment of receipt by workers, is stored in Reactec Analytics along with R-Link exposure data, for an even broader view of your workplace health and safety landscape.

Reactec + Trolex for Personalised Dust Monitoring

Trolex are pioneers in safety technology. The Trolex XD1+ is designed to be the lightest weight, most practical personal dust monitoring technology on the market. With no filters, pumps, tubes, or replaceable parts, the XD1+ is incredibly compact and easy to use. Workers only need to switch it on and secure it in place, and they’re ready to get to work.

By pairing their XD1+ with the R-Link smartwatch, workers can view their own dust exposure levels right on their watch face. This enables incredibly fast decision-making, making it possible for workers to respond more immediately to real-time exposure data.

Additionally, through this partnership, individual workers’ exposure data is stored and analysed in Reactec’s ultra-secure, powerful Analytics platform. With this unprecedented level of insight, teams can easily identify patterns, trends, and hotspots, and respond by adjusting their ways of working, or by improving controls.

Reactec + Minuendo for Occupational Noise Monitoring

Smart Alert by Minuendo is groundbreaking technology: it offers an automated and integrated approach to hearing loss prevention that sets new standards for protection. Smart Alert is a lightweight earplug with in-ear noise monitoring. It’s a revolutionary way to offer workers total protection that doesn’t slow them down with bulky or confusing tech. An effective alternative or addition to earplugs or earmuffs, Smart Alert is purpose-built for dynamic noise environments and designed to facilitate smarter ways of working.

Reactec is partnered with Minuendo to fully integrate data from Smart Alert with Reactec’s powerful analytics platform. This means that data regarding workers’ exposure to potentially harmful levels of occupational noise is collected and automatically transformed into actionable insights that duty holders can use to more effectively manage employees’ exposure.

The Reactec Analytics API Integration

The Reactec Analytics API Integration allows teams to integrate data from Reactec Analytics with their internal Management Information Systems. This allows teams to infuse the insights they get from Reactec’s powerful Analytics platform into their wider operations, to support company-wide health and safety goals.

With the API Integration, teams can adopt a more confident, more productive, and more efficient approach to health and safety on an organisational level. Through the API integration, datasharing that has traditionally been manual is instantly transformed into an automatic process that enables easier, faster communication between key business units, projects, and systems. So, instead of looking at insular or individual locations, projects, or offices, teams can look holistically at a wide range of data and analysis that provides a much broader, more complete picture of their total health and safety landscape.

The Reactec ecosystem is a robust collection of core technology, platforms, and partnerships that come together to create the most effective risk management system for teams operating across construction, manufacturing, rail, public services, and more.

With over 20 years of experience, Reactec has evolved a suite of solutions that make it possible for organisations to gain unprecedented insight into their health and safety landscape. With these insights, teams can make date-driven decisions that actually move the needle when it comes to the wellbeing of their workforce.
